From Sunagawa to the world

Japan’s only harness manufacturer

Somes Saddle’s Sunagawa Factory & Showroom is located in the middle of the Sorachi Plain, which stretches between Sapporo and Asahikawa.
Located in Sunagawa City.

Along with about 700 trees that we planted ourselves,We continue to create products while feeling the colors of the season.
From spring to autumn, horses are grazed in the courtyard, and events such as horseback riding experience and leather accessory making are held.
We share local patterns and the joy of manufacturing.

We will continue to use this location as our base while exploring the possibilities of manufacturing and the region.
We aim to become a field where we can interact with customers from all over the world.

“The ultimate in leather”

Saddles are made using all techniques that work with leather.
In order to achieve robustness that protects the safety of jockeys and functionality that brings out the performance of Jinba Ittai,
We have refined each technique one by one.

And our thoughts on making harnesses are
This tradition has also been passed down to bags and accessories.
To be a tool that will be a part of the user’s life for a long time
We will continue to manufacture products with dedication and care.

The motif of horse harnesses is used in somes leather products.

Thoughts on sustainability

How is leather made?
This begins with the effective use of skin, a byproduct of meat processing.
We do not sacrifice the lives of animals just for the sake of leather products.

The amount of cow skin produced by livestock farming is approximately 1 million cows per year in Japan alone.
Rather than discarding or incinerating this leather, the challenge for tanners and manufacturing companies is to turn it into “leather” for the sake of the global environment.

At Somes Saddle, we are engaged in manufacturing that creates new products from scraps produced during product manufacturing.
